Child Development Foundation confirmed that Child Protection Project in emergency and risks and providing services for children in emergency areas in south Darfur is a safer haven for children and hosting communities in times of emergency and risks.
The Director of South Darfur State sub-office , Mohamed Albushra said that Child Protection Project provides the necessary emergency services for children in the camps of Attachi, Maishrang, Manawashi, in Kas locality in collaboration with the United Nations Children’s, he added that its aims to provide protection services for children and hosting communities and strengthening their capacities in emergency situations. He pointed out that the number of beneficiaries of the project are 2107 male and 3161 female, and 6720 men and 9740 women, indicating that the total number of beneficiaries is 2172 people, including 1,000 indirectly beneficiaries. He explained that the project promotes capacity building of child protection committees in order to respond effectively in the times of emergencies and crises, as well as to enlighten the communities in targeted areas of the goals and objectives of the project, and establish child protection committees and child-friendly centers in South Darfur.
Child protection committees, playing great role in child-friendly centers by supporting and assisting children in times of disasters and crises. We find that the disasters that made by human makes a major disruption in the lives of children, and causing chaos in the medium and long term. In most cases, children are silent victims of circumstances that beyond their control. Commissions can protect and support the child to support these children in the framework of the national emergency response to ensure that children are protected.
