Child Development Foundation (CDF) is a Sudanese national non-governmental organization, founded and registered in 1999 under the Humanitarian Aid Commission (HAC) Act. It operates primarily in child rights and child protection through comprehensive, integrated humanitarian and development response programs implemented across six strategic sectors: Child Protection and Rights Safeguarding, Education in Emergencies, Health and Nutrition, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL), and Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE).

The foundation prioritizes girls and boys as its primary focus group, particularly the most vulnerable children exposed to protection risks, including: street-connected children, children engaged in hazardous labor, children associated with armed forces and armed groups, conflict-affected children, internally displaced persons (IDPs), out-of-school children, orphans, refugees, and returnees. Furthermore, the foundation extends the scope of its response to encompass other highly vulnerable groups, including children’s families and caregivers, pregnant and lactating women (PLW), female-headed households, and persons with special needs (PSNs).

In recognition of its outstanding humanitarian interventions, solid institutional infrastructure, and effective operational systems, the Child Development Foundation has held Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) since 2007.
