We held a joint meeting in Atbara with the UNICEF Field Office for River Nile and Northern states to review the Makana project and discuss the future of humanitarian work in River Nile State.
CDF’s delegation was led by Director General Dr Omer Gindeel, with the Programmes Director, the River Nile Office Manager and the office’s Logistics Manager. UNICEF was represented by Field Office Chief Mr Osman Shiba Abu Elfatima and colleagues from the Education and Child Protection sections.
The meeting reviewed the challenges the project faced, its exit strategy to sustain the results, and the lessons learned.
The UNICEF Field Office Chief commended the long-standing partnership between UNICEF and CDF and the strong coordination between the two teams, and encouraged both sides to build on the project’s experience in the next phase.
The Makana project combines education and child protection to support children and their families in River Nile and Northern states. To learn more about our education work, visit our Programmes page.
