First shipment of maternal health medicines reaches West Darfur since the war began

CDF staff oversee the unloading of a UNFPA medical shipment from a truck in West Darfur

The first shipment of life-saving medicines and medical supplies for mothers since the start of the war in Sudan has reached West Darfur State. We received the shipment with support from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

These medicines and supplies protect mothers from life-threatening complications during childbirth and support safe obstetric care in health facilities.

From West Darfur, the shipment will be distributed across all the states of Darfur, so that care reaches mothers where they are.

The shipment arrived after major operational challenges were overcome. We continue to work with UNFPA so that every mother in Darfur can give birth safely. To learn more about our health and nutrition work, visit our Programmes page.
