We took part in a series of coordination meetings of the mine action sector in Sudan, a new step in our work on explosive ordnance risk education.
On the first day, CDF’s Mine Risk Education Coordinator and Media Officer met the National Mine Action Centre. The team presented CDF’s vision and activities, and discussed the Centre’s role in coordination and monitoring and how to keep field work going despite the war.
On the second day, our delegation attended the sector’s monthly meeting, where the Risk Education Coordinator presented CDF’s experience in training and supporting volunteers in its community awareness project. The Risk Education Director at the National Mine Action Centre commended CDF’s role in raising awareness among displaced people, particularly those displaced from El Fasher to Northern State.
The meetings were attended by international and local partners, including the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS) and the Danish Refugee Council (DRC). To learn more about our explosive ordnance risk education work, visit our Programmes page.
