Forty-five young people from displaced and host communities have completed intensive vocational training in auto electrics, general electrics, and air conditioning and refrigeration maintenance. The trainees come from the villages of 10 Iskan, 6 Iskan and Amarat Al-Khawalda in New Halfa locality, Kassala State.
The training focused on these three trades because they are in high demand, making them the quickest route for young people to an independent income during displacement.
We delivered the training through the Kassala Vocational Training Centre. At its close, the trainees were visited by the State Minister of Production and Economic Resources, Dr Khidir Ramadan, representatives of the Department of Agricultural Extension and Technology Transfer, and the head of our Kassala office.
The training is part of the project “Strengthening the Resilience of IDPs, Refugees and Vulnerable Host Communities in Eastern Sudan”, which we implement with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
